Itchy Feet Open Week

Firstly, we hope you have all had a fantastic Christmas.

In possibly what was the busiest week running up to the Festivities, Itchy Feet hit the ground running in our Open Week, held from Friday 16th to Friday 23rd December.
This has followed six weeks of long hours moving the Itchy Feet operation from Cornwall to Northampton and travelling, all in all, some 10,000 miles; we opened our doors to our new home in Brixworth, to which for many years has been the home of Mercedes High Performance Engines.

During the course of the week refreshments were available including those every time a winner Mince Pies. Unfortunately though, the majority of our team were scattered all over the country collecting some much needed stock during the week, so we made sure we had our own Christmas celebration at the end of the week.

We were absolutely amazed that over 100 couples visited us during the pre-Christmas week and the feedback received was fantastic. In fact a few couples made our Christmas week and effort well worth it, by saying how great it was to finally see a motorhome dealer putting some positivity back into the industry; so that said we made positivity and enthusiasm our 2012 New Year's Resolution.

Vehicles on display included the world exclusive 2008 Fleetwood Revolution which by far was our most admired RV for sale, 2008 Fleetwood Discovery, the all-new 2011 Tiffin Breeze, 2010 Damon Daybreak and the 2010 Lehel MAN TGL.

Our two new showrooms have been designed to show our motorhomes off in a truly unique style.

Itchy Feet European and American Motorhomes will be opening the 2012 season from Tuesday 3rd January at Brixworth, Northampton. We wish you all the very best for 2012 and look forward to seeing you very soon.

Itchy Feet on the Move

Well, there we are, first week down. We have been settling into Brixworth, Northampton well and a lot has changed to our new home since moving in on Friday 11th November 2011.

The Itchy Feet Team have not stopped, polishing coaches, flooring, building mezzanines for the workshops and chairs for the offices! There is still a lot of work to be done. Our second artic lorry arrived today to be unloaded, and we all have a busy weekend planned unpacking and organising.

The Motorhome Show Rooms are coming together, the feedback from some of our local customers, (who just couldn't wait) :) has been fantastic so far.

Our new home will bring the opportunities to expand our parts department, servicing workshops, as well as reducing travelling times of most of our customers.

One of the main reasons for our move is to vastly increase our position as the UK number one in American RV rental. Over the past two years Winnebago Direct has gone from strength to strength and we were finding it difficult to commit to the demand we have. We hope now to be able to offer a truly unbeatable service in this sector. We will have a further update on this in the coming weeks.

The Exeter Motorhome Show

2011 Tiffin Breeze 28 BR

We have all heard the famous maxim: Less is more. Downsizing is not something many of us ever want to do. Sacrificing our 40ft RVs, built of great craftsmanship and intuitive design to end up with a motorhome that is no more than a box on wheels is simply not good enough, and that's exactly what Bob Tiffin and his research team found out when listening to customer's demands for quality and design without paying the ultimate price.

It gives me the greatest pleasure to introduce to you, Tiffin Motorhomes latest model, The Breeze 28BR.

This is quite simply the most unique and customer demanded American RV in a decade. It not only gives us outstanding quality and value for money but is fantastically usable in Europe. At just over 29ft it is no longer the the average B class and yet has the design and floor plan that wouldn't make it too difficult to make that step down when the time comes.

The breeze is built on Tiffin's own Powerglide chassis, another first for the industry, having a diesel pusher less than 30ft. Unlike some of the smaller Roadmaster chassis, Tiffin have ensured they equipped the Breeze with the independent air suspension, not so much to increase carrying capacity, merely to ensure to ride is as pleasant as can be. The heart of the coach is powered by a V8 Maxxforce International built by Navistar. This is one feature I'm very excited about. Early estimations and testing show the breeze will be capable of around 16MPG, not bad for a quality pusher.

Stepping inside the Breeze is where you can really see where the compromises will be low; the lounge is open and airy. A large leather 68" sofa bed and opposing leather horse shoe sofa/dinette make up the seating which again unlike its competition means you can relax without being on top of each other. The kitchen is made up of a large Corian worktop with integrated stainless steel appliances and a great amount of storage.

There are also some really great options for this coach including full ivory cream cabinets and in built vacuum cleaner, however most features are standard including full body paint and alloy wheels.

Tiffin certainly put a lot of thought into this coach and I can 100% vouch for them when I say they have done an outstanding, customer caring, intuitive and stunning job. I simply have not been this excited about a product in almost 3 years. I think it will quickly become a market leader and a great success to Tiffin, who without doubt, deserve every award they receive.

Itchy Feet at Race Retro

It was the first time the Itchy Feet team had attended the historic motorsport show at Race Retro in the heart of Warwickshire.

Itchy Feet decided to choose this show to debut their 1989 Lotus racing car which was driven by Japanese racing driver Satoru Nakajima. The car proved to be a huge success and along with coverage of the Bhrain grand prix playing on a television screen big crowds were drawn to the to the Itchy Feet stand.

The car which is a joint operation between Itchy Feet and Anglo American Autocare Racing, will over the coming few months be completely stripped and rebuilt ready for racing later in the season and fingers crossed it will make it's debut at the Silverstone Classic in July 2010.

The Itchy Feet team also took the opportunity to launch Rent My Rig which helps to off set purchase costs of the large motorhomes. When you have purchased your motorhome Itchy Feet will rent your motorhome out for you during the season as we are short of vehicles for hire at venues such as Silverstone, Goodwood and Gastonbury. During these times of recession Itchy Feet have found that there is a growing market for Rent My Rig.

Itchy Feet Launch New Range at the NEC

Itchy Feet were delighted to launch their new European range of motorhomes at the Boat & Caravan Show at the NEC on the 23rd February to the 28th February.

For Itchy Feet this was unknown territory but the Pegaso Viaggio was warmly received by all who attended the show and we have four confirmed orders that been placed for delivery over the coming weeks.

So what makes the Viaggio special ? Firstly it has been designed for the European market, and it is a left hand drive! The Viaggio comes complete with full leather interior, an adjustable bed and the largest garage ever to be seen on an European motorhome.

Itchy Feet at the NEC

Itchy Feet attended another successful show at the National Motorhome Show at the NEC in Birmingham last week.

We were the only American motorhome dealer at the show and were privileged to be situated at the main entrance.

We exhibited our Peterbilt, a purpose built motorhome which appealed to everyone from ages of six to sixty! The Itchy Feet team were kept extremely busy all day every day and are sure that this is their best show this year.

The team also feel that confidence is returning to the leisure market with serious interest being followed up by our sales team. The European dealers also reporting the show being a huge success.

As well as busy days at the show the Itchy Feet also enjoyed plenty of busy nights out in Birmingham.

Itchy Feet Takes Plymouth by Suprise on the Hoe

The Itchy Feet roadshow arrived in Plymouth at 7.30am on the 30th May in preparation for the land, sea and air exhibition on the Plymouth Hoe.

Following us were a BBC film crew who are making a documentary based on Itchy Feet and our clients who are embarking on a whole new way of life.

It was the Itchy Feet team's first time visiting the Barbican and we had a brilliant time with fantastic sunshine over the two days. So we would like to thank the people of Plymouth for their great hospitality and we look forward to returning.

For the Itchy Feet team it was straight on to the Royal Cornwall Show.

The Itchy Feet Team Hit The Shows!

Itchy Feet attended the Boat & Caravan show at the NEC in Birmingham from the 17th to the 22nd of February. It was a first for Itchy Feet to attend such a large show which run over a period of six days. Itchy Feet were the largest exhibitor of American motorhomes at the show and had an impressive display of vehicles ranging from 30ft to 38ft, from non slides to the latest full wall slide.

The stand was continuously busy from 10 0' clock in the morning until the end of day. Many people experienced the Itchy Feet hospitality and went away with a copy of our spring 2009 issue of the Roamin' Times and our DVD ' A Whole New Way of Life', 2,000 of which were distributed to seriously interested parties who were thinking of changing their way of life and doing it the Itchy Feet Way. All in all another successful show for the Itchy Feet team!

There was no rest for the Roadshow who then hit the Caravan & Motorhome show at Westpoint in Exeter on the 27th February to 1st March.

Again another superb weekend with Itchy Feet being on home territory. People were amazed after looking at European motorhomes and visiting the Itchy Feet stand realising that you get much more for your money with an American. Several sales are now being finalised as Itchy Feet continues to put more and more American motorhomes on the UK roads.

Next stop the National Motorhome Show at Peterborough showground on April 24th to 26th, we look forward to seeing you there!

Party in the Park 2008

Well huge thanks to all who attended our successful 2008 Party in the Park event over the bank holiday weekend, once again we were blessed by fine weather for the show and we hope that all our visitors enjoyed this unique RV event hosted by Itchy Feet.

As usual Itchy Feet's center piece was a stunning collection of RV's ranging through sizes and budgets, many of which received serious interest from the visitors around the park.

Saturday saw a host of events including supreb Viners BBQ which was accompanied by entertainment from the band Katana. The Searchers regular visitors to the Itchy Feet roadshows were camped out in the park giving visitors a unique insight into the wild west and even Dougie joined in the fun!

Delicious home made cream teas were served by Viners and throughout the afternoon the young and young at heart could challenge themselves and others to a Rodeo ride, and series of gladiator challenges.

Then the evening got into full swing and a packed Entertainment hall danced away the early hours and indulged in a fabulous Viners hot buffet.

For those without hang-overs Sunday provided a fun treasure hunt around the local area, more refreshments and capped off by a stunning 3 course meal, again provided by Kevin Viner at his superb restaurant located on Carvynick's grounds. Big credit goes to Kevin Viner his team and our dedicated staff who work very hard entertaining throughout the weekend.

For those who missed it be sure to visit us at the The Motorhome & US RV Show Shepton Mallet - 12th to 14th September 2008.

Our new RV Pitches are now up running and photos will be coming in the next coming weeks of the complete development. We strongly hope that these extended facilities goes to cement our position as the UK's Premier Independent RV Dealership and Resort.

Summer News from Carvynick

To get prepared for the summer season, the team at Carvynick have been working hard around the site. We have installed some brand new childrens play equipment to increase facilities for the younger guests.

We are also in the process of developing a new RV paddock for our increadibly popular RV Resort here at Carvynick. The Pitches will be set out in the usual high standard our customers have come to expect, each featuring it's own timber deck, planting and absolutely stunning views across our fanatastic Cornish Landscape. We will have pictures of the new paddock as soon as it is finished but expect the first guests on them for Party in the Park.

The Winter Season at Carvynick

The year 2007 was the busiest year in the history of Itchyfeet and the winter of 2007 must go down as the busiest period of that year – even though it is recognised as a time when trade slows down and people generally hibernate through the bad weather period whilst waiting for the sun to return. At Itchyfeet everybody on the workforce has been stretched almost to the limit in clearing up the business created from Show attendance during the year, dealing with new business from passing trade, preparing and maintaining the Carvynick cottages for the year to come, installing new leisure equipment for guests at Carvynick and Itchyfeet, at the same time as preparing for an even busier year to come in 2008. In short, preparing for spring 2008 at Itchyfeet started in October 2007 and goes on as I write this article in March 2008 – even though it would appear that the Staff have made time stand still in order to accomplish the results so far achieved, there is so much more the Boss, Eric Randle, wants them to do and time is flying by so quickly that they will have to work even harder to meet his demands for perfection and be ready for the onset of the new season.

So what has been done thus far? Starting with Carvynick – The continually ongoing repair, refurbishment, improvement programme for the cottages and the Leisure Centre has resulted in the award of ‘Silver Crown Resort’ from the RCI (Resort Condominiums International), the largest timeshare vacation exchange in the World, founded in 1974, now with over three million members worldwide. Improvements in the Leisure Centre include the installation of a 5-person spa/whirlpool bath, refurbishment of the general facilities and installation of various confectionary and drinks vending machines.

The biggest and most visible of the winter’s work is seen on the site at Itchyfeet where, currently, a mixture of thirty-four new and pre-owned RV’s are on sale with prices ranging from £35k up to the top of the range £210k and even though the RV market is supposedly going through a hard time at present due to the unstable money-markets and the rising fuel prices, Itchyfeet is still regularly selling at least one new coach per week, a fact which proves beyond doubt the view that Itchyfeet is now recognised by many (both in the UK and the States) as being the largest ‘independent’ dealer in American Motorhomes. Itchyfeet is now a registered Fleetwood stockist and Eric together with various other members of the Randle family and staff have spent much time recently in the States purchasing a range of the 2009 RV’s, many of them factory-built models, designed to meet European Standards and ordered to a specific Itchyfeet specification. The Fleetwood Revolution 40L, which was very popular with the UK RV enthusiasts, has been re-established to an Itchyfeet specification and will be available once again – a new range of the Dynamax RV’s will soon be on show at Itchyfeet and one other outstanding vehicle, which I must mention, that is due to arrive in April is the 2009 Country Coach, once again factory-built specifically to an Itchyfeet requirement, the epitome of luxury and opulence in RV terms, a coach that is absolutely unique in Europe .

The result of the busiest winter ever at Itchyfeet has been reflected in another sight, which although not visible to all, is the enlargement of the workshop space and the prospective opening of a spares and accessories shop on site. Recent innovations have been the introduction of a fabulous new touch screen on-board PC built into the RV dashboard incorporating the latest mobile internet technology with the ability to view web, e-mail, DVD and much more from your dashboard or lounge TV, as well as the exclusive and superb hydraulic motorbike carrier (specifically built for bikes such as the Harley Davidson) built onto the rear of your RV. The garage space available has been almost doubled by virtue of the addition of a mezzanine floor surrounding three walls of the existing building – an area which is now filled with racks of spares for servicing, spares for sale, spares of spares and most of the more commonly required accessories.

Finally, Itchyfeet has expanded it’s horizons beyond the shores of the UK and is now to be considered a truly International organisation, by the sponsorship of several RV friendly Parks in Europe and the continued sponsorship of Moandick’s Big Pitch Guide. Recent RV magazine articles have highlighted the fact that you can now book and pay for a pitch in Spain (Camping Almafra or Playa Paraiso) directly through the offices at Itchyfeet – alternatively buy an RV from Itchyfeet and you can have a holiday in Cornwall or in Spain as part of the deal – what else could you ask for?
